 Персона, рекламирующая товар или услугу, имя которого прочно ассоциируется с этим товаром (услугой). Например, лицом британского телеканала ITV Digital уже несколько лет работает вязаная обезьянка, созданная коллективом лондонского агентства Mother. Она не просто звезда большинства рекламных кампаний телеканала, в 2002 году обезьянка заняла 4-е место в ряду самых влиятельных рекламных персон Соединенного Королевства (ее обошли лишь Мартин Соррелл, Морис Саатчи и Крис Пауэл). В случае с L’Oreal и PepsiCo, когда продукцию фирмы представляют более десятка лиц, использовать термин spokesperson некорректно. В новостных лентах термин spokesperson часто употребляется в несколько ином значении и обозначает некоего неизвестного, но официального представителя компании, фамилия которого по каким-либо причинам (чаще всего из-за профессиональной привычки СМИ не разглашать источники информации?) замалчивается.
